GETTING TO SINGAPORE

Singapore is very easy to get to. You can arrive by boat, plane, train or automobile and if you really wanted to you could come by foot. Because the island is so small, once you arrive, you will only be a short distance from your destination.

Most visitors come by plane through the remarkably efficient Changi Airport.

It is quite possible to get off the plane, into a taxi, and be at "home" in thirty minutes - even with check-in luggage - though probably not if you are at the back of the plane.

Changi Airport also has very good duty free shopping which you can do once you have arrived at the airport. Most of the duty free shops open at 6 am and close about 11 pm though the ones in the baggage claims area are open 24 hours.

Getting a taxi from Changi is very straightforward, just follow the signs. The queue system works very quickly. Please note there is S$3 surcharge for cabs from the airport which rises to S$5 at peak periods. So don't be surprised if the fare on the meter is slightly higher than it seems.
