THE STORY SO FAR ...

Once upon a time, there was a lady from a far away Nordic Land (Norway) called Gunnie.

Across the oceans, Gunnie came to Singapore to work for the Norwegian Embassy and met a Singaporean couple - Helen & Albert - who helped her to find a place to live, right next door to their very own home.

Helen & Albert have a son and daughter. And Gunnie was very social and soon met Helen's daughter Fen and their pet Maltese, Pebbles.

One of Gunnie's tasks in her new job was to learn about the oil and gas industry in Asia. While attending an industry conference in Kuala Lumpur, she met Piers. They became very good friends and frequently went out together … partying till the wee hours of the morning, of course!

Gunnie wanted to give her boyfriend, Oleg, something different for his birthday and decided that dance lessons would be ideal. She also convinced Piers that he should come with her and Oleg. It seemed like a good idea at the time
;-) And Gunnie knew that Fen ran Jitterbugs Swingapore and immediately went about setting the classes up.

But when the actual day
came for the first class, Gunnie, Oleg and Piers had been out late the night before (partying till the wee hours
of the morning, of course!) and were all very hungover.

Fen taught the private class at Jitterbugs on Tras Street and the three beginners thoroughly enjoyed themselves. (Note: Fen's first impression of Piers: Hmmm … Oh dear!!!)

Gunnie and Piers (and Oleg when he was in town) started to explore the different classes and many styles of dance that Jitterbugs offered. They signed up for class, and developed a few moves.

They then tried these after a few tequilas in some of Singapore's nightclubs. This wasn't always popular with the other, more famous, dancers, but Piers and Gunnie were having Fun.

Gunnie and Oleg had decided that it was time to go back to Europe, separately. About the same time, Piers moved to ADL, which was located very close to Tras Street, and going to class became a regular part of his diary. (Yes he repeated the Beginner's course that Fen "happened" to be teaching 4 times, but now we understand why!)

So Piers & Fen fell in love over Lindy Turns and Charlestons … and here we are today.
